It is one thing to have read “the Classics” and think you have a general understanding of Taiji yet to be given the oral explanation and then have this demonstrated so that you may experience the correct feeling and effect allows the student to realise the depth and subtlety that can be attained. If you have been passed the knowledge and then train at this diligently the true skills will become understood, these can then be passed on in turn.
“When I first met Oz I was instantly impressed by his skill, enthusiasm, and ability to teach. Initially the depth of the subject eluded me but over time more has become understood due to the structured and traditional process of his teachings, whilst much more awaits my understanding I could not have gained my current level of insight without his patience and constant good natured help. The importance of lineage and discipleship have become more apparent to me the longer that I have trained in the detailed explanation of theories and in the subtle ways that they interconnect that would have otherwise passed me by.
As I progress I hope that I can emulate his teaching style and one day, attain some way towards his level of skill as a practitioner.”
Student of Ugur Osman , Jeff has been studying Taiji for 10 years he has competed at the BCCMA National push hands championships taking Silver in 2005 and Gold in 2006 and 2007. He has recently started teaching in Ware, Hertfordshire.
