On December 3rd 2000 it was announced that Ugur Osman and Andy Harris were to be awarded with discipleships into the Wu Style Hao Family system of Taijiquan. As the first western students to be proclaimed to this lineage it was a very emotional and moving time for them both, and more especially a great honour. The ceremony was held at a restaurant in Bayswater, owned by Ringo Lo a renowned and respected Master of Pak Mei . He also officiated at this auspicious occasion.
Many exotic Chinese dishes were served throughout the evening combined with endless flowing wine to celebrate this particular event. Other witnesses were also called to the restaurant to verify and testify to the proceedings.
Towards the end of the evening and after all formalities had been completed, Master Liu and Master Lo were in deep conversation about martial arts. It was time for a demonstration, Master Liu rose and prepared to demonstrate Fa-Jing.
The ‘assailant’ attempted to push him from behind, but to his surprise was sent reeling backwards several feet. Master Liu accepted another attack it was all too fast and over within a few seconds. Unfortunately for his assailant he was again dispelled backwards several feet over a chair which broke, regrettably!
Ugur Osman (Oz) and Andy Harris both first western non Chinese disciples of this rare and unique martial art in Europe
